The Incredible Years Breege Breheny - Incredible Years Schools Coordinator Appointed in September 2008, Breege is the Incredible Years Schools Co-ordinator with youngballymun in association with Drumcondra Education Centre. The role of the Schools Co-ordinator is to co-ordinate the delivery of the school based aspect of the Incredible Years Programme, to build whole school ownership of Incredible Years and to support the engagement of parents in the Incredible Years Basic Parenting Programme.

Incredible Years is an evidence- based model, providing training programmes for teachers, parents and children. The overall aim is to promote the social competence of children aged 3-10 years.

Literacy Coordinator
Martina Gannon - Literacy Coordinator
Martina Gannon has been appointed as Literacy Coordinator, in conjunction with Drumcondra Education Centre, to youngballymun. youngballymun is a community-based strategy that is taking place in parallel with the regeneration of Ballymun. It seeks to enhance the learning and well-being outcomes for children and young people in Ballymun.
“Write Minded”, the Literacy Strategy of youngballymun, is provided across schools and education centres in Ballymun. The service was designed by a cross-section of teachers and education support agencies and complements and integrates with the work of the Department of Education’s DEIS initiative. This literacy initiative provides age-appropriate supports to literacy development throughout the child/young person’s education. The service engages with parents and families, provides teacher training, supports children’s move from primary to secondary school and supports school attendance.
Martina Gannon will drive the implementation of the strategy promoting increased time and focus on literacy. This will be done through building literacy skills across the curriculum, enhancing school attendance and engaging with family and community initiatives.
