The Centre is delighted to continue to work in collaboration with NUI Maynooth in the rollout of the TL21 Transfer Initiative. This is an extension of the Teaching and Learning for the 21st Century  Project, a school -university initiative by the DES, NUI Maynooth and fifteen post-primary schools in Leinster, 2003-2007.

The transfer initiative is modelled on a Cooperative Learning Model. This is a unique opportunity for the participating schools both for reflecting on classroom practice and student engagement and for individual teacher professional learning. The in-built in Diploma and Masters accreditation process which is linked to teacher classroom practice is attractive to teachers who do not feel they have either the energy or the time for pursuing accredited study/learning which may not be directly related to their day-to-day classroom work.

The roll-out of the initiative in Drumcondra, for the academic year 2009/2010, will be facilitated by Mr. Alec McAllister, SLSS.  Themes which may be addressed include:  ICT in the Classroom, Subject Teams, Assessment and Differentiation. The three local post-primary schools who have elected to participate are:
  • St Joseph’s Secondary School, Rush, Co. Dublin
  • St Vincent’s Secondary School, Glasnevin, Dublin 11
  • Mount Temple Comprehensive, Malahide Road, Dublin 3.

We wish them every success in their endeavours.
